Catwalk the dog
Last night at the Valley Ho in Scottsdale a group of designers and students competed in the annual IIDA Couture event. Designers are given various materials ranging from carpet to Formica to construct a wearable garment for the runway. The design that stood out immediately to us was Ashley Zettler from Cannon Designs. Using her design and crochet skills (and a poodle) Ashley assembled an elegant knit dress that would have made the Missoni's take notice. At the close of the show two well deserved awards at the hand of the wise judges. Good job Ashley, see you next year.

HA HA GAGA
As I prepared myself to suffer through the Grammys this year I hoped if I endured the fast food that is pop music, maybe I would have a crumb of a good moment with some talented folks as well. It paid off. Mumford and sons Avett brothers and Bob Dylan. The enthusiasm level with all these young guys backing up iconic Bob was amazing. Banjos, guitars, mandolins and bearded Brooklyn boys all beaming. Bob seemed to enjoy himself as he croaked out Maggies farm, energized by tomorrows icons. And let's not forget some great insight into fashion. Americana and some dandy. Told ya.

Farm league
Does the average guy wake up one day in his 30's and say "Hey I am going to gain 30 pounds and grow a goatee. There are so many of these guys out there. Don't they have wives and girlfriends for guidance? Don't they know sportscasters rarely have good style? Besides the obvious comparison to certain girl parts, this beard is often accompanied by some strategic gel application on a head of thinning locks. Not edgy man. Basically you have a 70's bush on your chin and wet hair. Is this a child birth simulation of some kind? Is life at the point where you just want back in? I can sympathize as I grow older and work harder for less. The thing is if your going to make a statement put some thought into it. tip. Read a GQ or an Esquire. I don't want to be mean but it's easy to stay current and evolve. Lose the gel, cut your hair short, grow a full beard and keep it trimmed or go clean shaving . Might as well clean up the diet a little. There you go modern man.

Amerikinda
The last few seasons Americana has ruled the fashion industry. The last trade shows most of the industry people looked like turn of the century butchers and dockworkers. Woolrich,Gant, and numerous others rose to the occasion. I am forecasting this year some modernization and a shot of Dandyism will tweak the trend. Think Mr. Peanut meets the Smith Brothers. Watch and see what happens, and while your at it take a shave Jedidiah.
